I have a big passion, and that is to help people see that coming to therapy is just general health care!
Society Treats Physical Wellness Differently
We take our kids to the doctor for their well checks every year to make sure everything is going well. I don’t understand why we’re not doing that here in the psychological realm. If we’re double- and triple-checking all of the family’s mental health there are things we could catch early, and stave off problems before they happen!
We Don’t Have To Be Broken To Go To Therapy
I think sometimes people might feel like they have to be broken, or something has to be wrong before they can come to seek therapy. Or, that they might not want to seek therapy at all because it means they might be broken. It’s actually exactly the opposite! Life brings us problems. I don’t know anyone who can get through this life without needing someone to talk to, including myself! Here at Coppell Family Therapy, we talk to each other to keep ourselves healthy, and we encourage our family members to do the same!
Therapy Can Be Proactive, Not Just Reactive
I want you all to think about that and I hope that we can get to a place where we can start to talk about therapy as just good health care. Here, we can actually stop some of the problems before they start, and then we can give you some strong skills for the entire family to be healthier. The family is the first place that we get to know each other. It’s the first place your child identifies themselves in. If that family is not a healthy unit, it may not turn out healthy people. So I believe that if we can start it soon, and we start with the family unit, we’re going to have a lot healthier families and a healthier society overall!
