Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
From excessive hand-washing to counting steps, OCD can seriously disrupt daily life for the person it controls and for the people who live with them. Family members often get pulled into rituals or reassurance without realizing it.
In therapy, you and Dr. Audrey work out what drives your obsessions and compulsions and how to redirect those impulses. When OCD is addressed carefully, intrusive thoughts can ease, and the anxiety that fuels them often decreases as well.
Autism spectrum disorders
Dr. Audrey's work with autism spectrum concerns is rooted in the family and social context. Parents often come to her with questions like these:
- Does my child struggle to understand emotions or relationships?
- Do they miss social cues or not know which response to use?
- Are they socially awkward, and do they have trouble making and keeping friends?
- Do sensory issues or physical discomfort affect their behavior?
- Do they think they are smarter than you? (Sometimes they are.)
She helps identify your child's strengths, work on weaknesses and teach parents to do the same at home. If you would like to talk it through, request an appointment.
Personality and behavioral disorders
Several conditions fall into this area, including oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, antisocial personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder. Oppositional defiance and conduct problems show up most often in children and teens, while personality disorders are usually identified in adults.
These conditions are complex and generally call for long-term treatment and psychotherapy. Dr. Audrey is well suited to help you or a family member begin that work one session at a time. For emotion dysregulation and borderline traits, she often draws on Dialectical Behavior Therapy, in which she is C-DBT certified.
Relationship counseling
The union of two people in marriage, or one person's commitment to another, is far more complex than a legal or physical bond. It is more than a moral or spiritual bond, more than raising children, more than creating a family unit and more than joining an extended family. It is all of those things and more.
Relationship counseling with Dr. Audrey helps partners understand those layers and how they collide. Her fuller approach is described on the marriage counseling and couples therapy page.
How online sessions work
All sessions take place over secure, HIPAA-compliant video that opens in your browser. Dr. Audrey is licensed as a Texas LPC-S, a New Jersey LPC and a New York LMHC, so you need to be physically located in one of those states during each session. Parents, partners or other family members can join from different locations when that helps.
Dr. Audrey is an out-of-network provider. Rates are shared when you reach out, and she provides a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
