A Texas practice with Coppell roots
Dr. Audrey Kteily has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas since 2001 and a Supervisor since 2004. For more than two decades she has worked with families from her long-standing practice in Coppell, serving parents, teens and couples throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Her practice is now 100% online. That change opened the door to Texans well beyond DFW: families in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, the Rio Grande Valley, West Texas and the small towns in between can work with her without a long drive or a waitlist at the only practice in town.
Who can work with Dr. Audrey in Texas?
Anyone who is physically located in Texas at the time of the session. Her Texas license is what authorizes her to treat you, so it does not matter where you grew up or where your family is spread out, only where you are sitting when the video call starts.
She works with children, teens, young adults, adults, couples and whole families. Family members in different Texas cities can join the same session, which helps when a college student is in Lubbock and the parents are in Plano.
What Texas families come in for
Every family is different, but many of the same themes come up across the state:
- Family systems counseling. Our family is the first world we experience, and it shapes how we see everything else. Dr. Audrey's PhD is in Family Studies, and her family systems work looks at the patterns that keep a household stuck.
- Parenting strategies. For parents overwhelmed by the many roles they play, she offers practical ways to stay firm and loving. Read how family systems thinking shapes her parenting work.
- Adolescent issues. Those years can seemingly overnight turn a cuddly, bright child into a moody stranger. Her teen counseling helps with anxiety, depression, self-harm, identity, school stress and performance pressure.
- Couples therapy. She works with spouses and partners in marriage counseling and couples therapy to rebuild communication and trust.
- Trauma and DBT. She treats PTSD and complex PTSD and is C-DBT certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Many Texans researching trauma treatment also come across EMDR therapy. If you are weighing different approaches, ask Dr. Audrey which fits your situation; she will tell you plainly if another kind of provider would serve you better.
Why online therapy works well in Texas
Texas is big. A weekly appointment across town in Houston or Dallas traffic can eat up two hours, and in rural counties the nearest family therapist may be an hour or more away. Online sessions remove the drive entirely.
- No commute, no parking and no waiting room
- More privacy in small towns where everyone knows whose car is parked where
- Easier scheduling around school, practices, shift work and ranch or farm schedules
- Divorced or blended families can join from separate homes
It also helps families who move within the state. A family that relocates from Coppell to Austin, or a teen who leaves for college in College Station, can keep working with the same therapist instead of starting over, since her Texas license covers the whole state.
Sessions use secure, HIPAA-compliant video that opens in your browser. There is no app to download. Texas sessions are scheduled in Central Time; families in El Paso and Hudspeth counties, which run on Mountain Time, can learn more on the El Paso page.
What happens after you reach out?
Once you send the form or a text, the office replies within one business day to confirm you will be in Texas during sessions, answer questions about fees and the superbill, and find a time that works in Central Time.
Before your first appointment you receive intake paperwork and a secure video link. The first session is about understanding the whole picture: what brought you in, who is involved, what has already been tried and what you want to be different. For families with a teen, Dr. Audrey often meets with parents and the teen separately before bringing everyone together.
From there, she recommends a plan. Some families meet weekly for a stretch; others check in less often once things settle. The plan is revisited as your family changes.
A note for DFW parents
Dr. Audrey's ties to the metroplex run deep. She volunteered for years as a guest speaker in the Coppell Police Department's Teen Diversion Program. The practice's parenting advice has also appeared in local media, including a Q&A in DFWChild's October–November 2021 issue (page 12) about young children who hit for attention.
You can follow the practice on Coppell Family Therapy's Facebook page and on Instagram. If you live in or near Coppell, see the Coppell family therapy page.
